I'm not near my camera now or I would test the video start feature. If you have a power zoom, the app will let you control that as well.

SONY A6000 VIDEO REMOTE CONTROL FOR MAC UPDATE
I haven't tried using it for video yet, but read that the version 3 update to the remote app in the cam should allow for remote video start. You can control aperture, SS, and ISO as well. Just touch where you want it to focus and it'll do it. With the A6000, you can tap focus with your smartphone with the playmemories app. With the a7/a6000, I wouldn't be able to do that, and would have to wait till I was done self-recording to see if it was framed correctly - unless I can finally use my smartphone to remote view, then start recording.Īlso, a long shot, can you manual focus with a smartphone yet? The NEX 5R had a 180 degree tilting screen, so I could be sure I was framing myself correctly after hitting the record button on camera. Is that still the case with the a7 series or even the a6000? I remember that I could take photos with the playmemories app, but couldn't start recording a video.
